Creatin' 2.0 is a community-led revival of the Creatin' Contest. For 32 years, miniatures.com sponsored the Creatin' Contest, inspiring hundreds of miniaturists to create amazing spaces. The business changed ownership in 2025, and the contest was put on pause.
But a few miniaturists came together to bring it back for 2026!

Three miniaturists came together to revive the contest because we loved it! We are volunteering our time to help make it happen, and are using kit proceeds to cover manufacturing costs and other expenses. We are doing it out love for the miniatures community!
You can learn more about why we wanted to revive the Creatin’ Contest on the About page.

We’ve had a number of requests from makers outside the U.S. who want to participate in Creatin’ 2.0.
While we weren’t able to ship physical kits internationally, we’re offering a digital version so you can build alongside everyone else.
International makers are very welcome to build and share their work, and submissions will be featured on Instagram and the website.
But, due to legal constraints, prizes are limited to U.S.-based participants.

Physical kits are now sold out. But you can download a digital version of the kit here: https://www.melvinsminiatures.com/products/creatindigital
-
The digital kit includes the core components of The Door to Somewhere kit:
Wall + two base pieces (SVG files for laser cutting)
Turntable (STL file for 3D printing) and link to purchase pre-made
We only planned to offer a physical kit to participants in the US for Creatin’ 2.0. But after talking with so many of you at the Chicago show, and hearing from people outside the US, we wanted to find a way to open this up so more of the community could be part of it. So we decided to launch a digital version of the kit: https://www.melvinsminiatures.com/products/creatindigital
The digital file will allow those who didn't pre-order the kit or who live outside the US to join in—if they have access to a laser cutter. This way more people can enjoy the community side of this, which is why we wanted to revive the contest in the first place. But please note that only US-residents are eligible for prizes due to legal constraints.
